TECHNICAL FAQ

BrightSign configuration questions

What is a BrightSign configuration tool?

A configuration tool helps prepare player, display and playback settings. ScreenCanvas also covers physical screen layout, content mapping, player assignment, synchronization and local SD package preparation.

Can I configure a BrightSign project online?

Yes. ScreenCanvas runs in a modern browser for layout, mapping, player assignment and project preparation. It does not connect to or remotely control BrightSign players.

How do I synchronize multiple BrightSign players?

Assign shared content to the required displays and configure the synchronization group. The generated multi-player workflow uses wired Ethernet, PTP and BrightSign SyncManager; verify the result on the target hardware.

How do I play one video across multiple BrightSign displays?

Use the Multiscreen mapping mode to place one source across the physical display layout, assign the participating BrightSign outputs and export the player-specific packages.

Can ScreenCanvas prepare content for multiple screen sizes?

Yes. The editor supports 1–16 displays with explicit physical dimensions, landscape or portrait orientation, FHD or 4K output options and per-display mapping.

Does ScreenCanvas replace BrightAuthor?

No. It is an independent layout, mapping, synchronization and SD package preparation tool, not a claim to replace every BrightSign authoring or management workflow.

Can ScreenCanvas export files for BrightSign SD cards?

Yes. ScreenCanvas creates the player-specific SD package locally in the browser. A target BrightSign serial number is required for export, and the final package still needs testing on the selected player.

Do I need BrightAuthor to use ScreenCanvas?

BrightAuthor is not required to create a ScreenCanvas package. Other BrightSign workflows may still use BrightAuthor, and ScreenCanvas packages require the selected player, BrightSignOS and media to be compatible.
